A retreat in the German Eifel, in the little village of Brohl just a few kilometers away from the river Moselle. The complex makes use of the obsolete Bauernhof Weilermattes, a pastoral ensemble of farm buildings, with a garden and a meadow which runs into an unspoiled stream valley.
‘Weilermattes’ is the name the old farm has with the locals. The project conceptually extends the ensemble with a solitary timber house based on vernacular traditions of the region. The complex is owned and developed by former gallerist Wilfried Lentz and will have a holiday home cum artist residence and an exhibition space. The exhibition facility in the barn will be designed by artist James Beckett.
